Weekend Recommendation

Lovers of carols are invited this Sunday (December 7), at 14:00, far from the hustle and bustle of Timișoara, to the third edition of the “Christmas Concert” in Charlottenburg, the only round village in Romania.

The concert will take place in the local Roman Catholic Church, in a unique festive atmosphere.

The audience will enjoy an elegant musical program that will take them through famous European works and the traditions of a community with a distinctive identity.

Under the baton of conductor Enrico Primo Cannata, renowned artists will take the stage, including Gianluca Vanzelli, Violeta Oșorhean, Diana Vasiu, Grigore Teodorescu, Eugen Morărița, Marta Chiș, and David Chiș, accompanied by the Dante Alighieri Timișoara Orchestra.

The concert is organized by the Comeat-Lichtenwald Association, with the support of the Bogda Commune City Hall, Visit Timiș, the Roman Catholic Parish of Charlottenburg, and the Dante Alighieri Timișoara Society.

Also, if you cannot attend this Sunday’s event, do not worry—next week, on the third Sunday of Advent, December 14, a new edition of the “Christmas Story in Charlottenburg” will take place.

It will begin at 12:00 with a service officiated by Father Ioan Cădărean in the Roman Catholic Church of Charlottenburg, followed by a carol concert by the “Corala Contrast,” a group with more than two decades of tradition, formed by lyrical artists of the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara. They will perform Romanian and international carols.

Additionally, a Christmas market will be organized here, offering Advent treats and traditional holiday products. A surprise moment will be “Santa Claus in Charlottenburg,” where Santa will give gifts to the children.

Starting at 15:00, at the “Charlottenburg – Das Haus” guesthouse, the Edelweiss Detta and Banater Kranz ensembles from Timișoara will present a program of traditional German dances, coordinated by instructor Tiberiu Palikucsan, in collaboration with the Democratic Forum of Germans in the Banat.

The event “Christmas Story in Charlottenburg,” on December 14, is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Banat Traditions and Culture, in collaboration with the Timiș County Council, the Bogda Commune City Hall, the Roman Catholic Community of Charlottenburg, the Timiș County School Inspectorate, and the Romanian-German Cultural Society of Timișoara.

Partners of the event include the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Timișoara, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria in Timișoara, and the Democratic Forum of Germans in the Banat.

Thus, the event “Christmas Story in Charlottenburg” will conclude, on a festive note, the series of cultural activities held this year, aimed at celebrating Banat traditions and increasing the visibility of the localities Charlottenburg, Buzad, Altringen, Bogda (Neuhof), Sintar (Buchberg), and Comeat (Lichtenwald).

The organizers promise that cultural initiatives will continue in 2026 in order to strengthen the heritage and multicultural profile of this distinctive area of Banat.

And finally, if you cannot attend either of the two events, Visit Timiș recommends participating this Saturday, December 6, in the opening of Timișoara’s only free ice rink, located at the Banat Village Museum, marking the start of the “Lights of the Village” event, beginning at 16:00.

“Lights of the Village” will take place from December 6 to 21, 2025, from Wednesday to Sunday, with free admission. The event is organized by the National Museum of Banat at the Banat Village Museum, with the support of the Timiș County Council.
